MARIA AURORA, Aurora — Government troops seized a suspected food cache believed intended for dismantled insurgent groups during a security operation in a remote village here, military officials reported.
Personnel from the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion of the Philippine Army, in coordination with the 21st Special Action Company of the 2nd Special Action Battalion, Philippine National Police–Special Action Force (PNP-SAF), conducted the operation in Sitio Binwangan, Barangay Wenceslao. The activity was carried out under the supervision of Joint Task Group 7-2 (JTG 7-2).
Authorities said the recovered supplies were believed to have been intended to support the Dismantled Komiteng Rehiyon Gitnang Luzon (DKRGL) and the Dismantled Komiteng Larangan Gerilya Narciso (DKL Narciso). While no armed encounter occurred and suspected threat elements had reportedly vacated the area prior to the operation, troops proceeded with clearing and security measures to prevent any potential regrouping.
Seized during the operation were multiple containers of rice, including two containers holding approximately 25 kilograms each; two gallon containers containing around 10 kilograms each; two 1.5-liter containers with about 1.5 kilograms each; and another water container with an estimated 3 kilograms of rice.
Military officials said the confiscation of the supplies is part of ongoing sustainment and intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting logistical support systems of insurgent groups previously operating in the region.
Brig. Gen. Eugenio Julio C. Osias IV, commander of the 703rd Infantry (Agila) Brigade and Joint Task Group 7-2, commended the participating units for their coordination and operational discipline.
“This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to maintaining stability and security in our communities. By intercepting these resources, we enhance our sustainment operations and prevent any future attempts to disrupt peace,” Osias said in a statement.
He emphasized the continued collaboration between the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police in reinforcing security efforts across Aurora and the broader Central Luzon region.
The 703rd Infantry Brigade reiterated its commitment to sustaining security gains through focused military presence and intelligence-based operations, with the goal of safeguarding civilians and supporting long-term peace and development initiatives in former insurgency-affected areas.
