Mariveles, Bataan – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) took part in the Philippine Ports and Logistics 2026, one of the country’s leading biennial exhibitions for the maritime and supply chain industry.

Representing AFAB Administrator and CEO Hussein P. Pangandaman, FAB Enterprise Department Manager Atty. Lawrence K. Pelaez delivered a presentation highlighting how special economic zones help create opportunities for ports to drive national economic growth.

The discussion emphasized the increasing interest in the Freeport following AFAB’s amended charter, which now allows businesses across the province of Bataan to be designated as Freeport Area of Bataan Expansion Areas. Atty. Pelaez also shared that six port operators are currently opening or expanding their operations within the Freeport Area of Bataan.

Through its participation in the forum, AFAB underscored the Freeport’s growing role in strengthening the Philippines’ ports and logistics sector and supporting broader economic development.
