CABANATUAN CITY, PHILIPPINES — The spirit of history and community took center stage as the City Government of Cabanatuan officially opened the Banatu Festival 2026. Celebrating the city’s 76th Founding Anniversary, the festivities kicked off at Plaza Lucero, bringing together residents and visitors in a vibrant display of local pride.
This year’s theme, “Hinubog ng Kasaysayan, Pinatatag ng Mamamayan — Cabanatuan, Ipagmalaki Natin” (Shaped by History, Strengthened by the People — Cabanatuan, Let Us Be Proud), reflects the city’s journey from its historical roots to its current status as a resilient urban hub.

A Showcase of Culinary Heritage
Central to the celebration is the promotion of Cabanatuan’s most famous delicacy: the longganisa. Spearheaded by the City Livelihood and Cooperative Development Office, several key activities were held to spotlight the local industry:
Cabanatuan Got Longganisa Boodle Fight: A massive communal feast that underscored the city’s unity and shared culinary identity.
Salo-Solane Longganisa Master Cooking Contest: A platform for local chefs and home cooks to demonstrate the versatility and premium quality of the city’s signature product.

Supporting Local Economy and Livelihood
Beyond the festivities, the city government emphasized economic empowerment through the Trade Fair and the Kadiwa ng Pangulo. These initiatives provided a vital marketplace for small businesses and cooperatives, ensuring that the festival’s impact reaches the grassroots level by making products more accessible to the public.
“Our goal is not only to celebrate our past but to secure the future of our local entrepreneurs,” the City Livelihood and Cooperative Development Office stated. “By promoting longganisa as our signature product, we strengthen our brand and our community’s livelihood.”
