Manila – The government has begun implementing relief measures to support the transport sector following the continued increase in global oil prices linked to tensions in the Middle East.
As announced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the distribution of ₱5,000 cash assistance to tricycle drivers commenced today, benefiting approximately 139,000 drivers across 17 cities in Metro Manila. The assistance is intended to help drivers cope with rising fuel costs and sustain their daily livelihood.

In addition, jeepney and Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) drivers are set to receive the same amount of cash aid. This will be complemented by fuel subsidies and other targeted interventions to ease the financial burden on public transport operators.
The government remains vigilant in monitoring global oil market developments and is prepared to implement further measures as needed to protect the welfare of transport workers and ensure reliable public transportation for commuters.
