The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has donated a monitoring boat and oil spill containment equipment to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to enhance coastal surveillance and emergency response capabilities in Bataan.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the assistance includes a 108-linear-meter oil spill boom and a monitoring boat powered by a 40-horsepower outboard motor. These will be deployed by the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGS) Bataan for maritime patrols, search and rescue missions, and waterway monitoring across the province.

Pablo emphasized the value of inter-agency cooperation in strengthening environmental protection and public service delivery.
“Through stronger partnerships with our fellow government agencies, we can further boost our collective capacity to protect the environment and respond to the needs of our coastal communities,” he said.
Bataan provincial head Raul Mamac noted that the additional equipment will improve on-ground response to coastal and marine incidents, including oil spills and other threats to marine ecosystems.
Meanwhile, Coast Guard District NCR–Central Luzon Deputy Commander Captain Francisco Achilles Acedillo expressed gratitude to the DENR, saying the donation will enhance the PCG’s operational readiness in securing coastal areas and addressing maritime emergencies.
The initiative also supports law enforcement and environmental monitoring efforts in Bataan, a key province along the Manila Bay coastline. (DENR Central Luzon)
