As part of the tour, the delegation visited three of Pampanga’s most iconic and historically significant churches:

St. Augustine Parish Church (Lubao) — Established in 1572, it is one of the oldest churches in Luzon, known for its enduring structure that has withstood numerous earthquakes and natural disasters through the centuries.

Betis Church (Guagua) — Often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of Pampanga,” this church is celebrated for its intricate ceiling murals and artistic masterpieces created by Kapampangan artisans. The delegation was personally welcomed by Guagua Mayor Tonton Torres.

San Guillermo Parish Church (Bacolor) — A powerful symbol of faith and resilience, this church was partially buried in lahar following the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, yet continues to stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of the community.

Also present during the visit were Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon and Atty. Claire Lim, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Director Nicolette Henson, Provincial Tourism Officer Michael Castañeda, and Ruston Banal.

More than a ceremonial visit, the Visita Iglesia tour served as a meaningful platform to introduce Pampanga’s rich cultural identity, historical depth, and spiritual heritage to the global community.

The visiting diplomats departed with more than memories of scenic landmarks and exceptional cuisine—they carried with them a deeper appreciation and inspiration drawn from a province that stands strong in history, culture, and faith. (PR-Pampanga PIO)
