Olongapo City – The Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) intensified its campaign against illegal products following the confiscation of illegal cigarettes valued at approximately ₱428,240.00 in two separate operations in Barangay East Bajac-Bajac on February 9, 2026.
Under the leadership of City Director PCOL Ritchie R. Claravall, operatives from the City Intelligence Unit (CIU-OCPO), Police Station 1 (PS1), Olongapo City Mobile Force Company (OCMFC), and RID3, together with representatives from the Philippine Tobacco Institute, conducted the successive operations.
The first operation occurred at 5:55 PM beside the Olongapo City New Public Market, resulting in the seizure of various cigarette brands valued at ₱93,840.00. A second operation followed at 11:10 PM at the same location, yielding a larger confiscation of illegal cigarettes estimated at ₱334,400.00.
All confiscated products have been transported to the police station for proper documentation and will be turned over to the Philippine Tobacco Institute for appropriate disposition. These acts constitute clear violations of Section 263A of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.
PCOL Claravall emphasized that the successive confiscations reflect the police’s diligent monitoring against illegal activities that negatively impact the city’s economy. He assured that the OCPO will continue such operations to ensure that all businesses in Olongapo comply with the law while keeping public markets safe and orderly for every consumer.
