OLONGAPO CITY — The local government has launched OPLAN SUMVAC (Summer Vacation) as part of its annual safety campaign to ensure the protection of residents and tourists visiting beaches and resorts during the summer season.

Led by the Olongapo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the initiative promotes preparedness, responsible tourism, and coordination among resort operators, emergency responders, and the public.

Authorities reminded beach and resort owners to comply with key safety requirements, including maintaining accessible emergency equipment such as first aid kits, installing visible safety signages, and managing visitor capacity to prevent overcrowding. Establishments are also encouraged to coordinate closely with local emergency units to ensure immediate response in case of incidents.

Tourists, meanwhile, are urged to remain vigilant while enjoying summer activities. Officials emphasized the importance of supervising children at all times, understanding one’s swimming ability, staying hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses, and following resort policies and environmental guidelines.

The campaign carries the message “Ligtas na Bakasyon sa Olongapo, Saya ang Uuwi Mo!”, highlighting the city’s commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable summer experience for everyone.

Emergency response teams from various agencies are on standby throughout the season. In case of emergencies, the public is advised to immediately call 911 for police, fire, or medical assistance.

Local officials said OPLAN SUMVAC is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to promote safety, preparedness, and responsible tourism while welcoming visitors during the peak summer months.
