Limay, Bataan – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued 13 fishermen following a maritime incident in the waters off Barangay Lamao, Limay, Bataan, on January 23, 2026.

Initial reports indicated a collision between LPGC SL Bisugo and the fishing banca FBca Jun-Jun, which had 13 crew members onboard. Upon receiving the information, Coast Guard Station Bataan, in coordination with the Special Operations Unit (SOU) Bataan and Limay Bantay Dagat, immediately launched search and rescue operations.

Coast Guard SAR personnel promptly arrived at the scene, rendered assistance, and safely transferred all 13 fishermen to the shoreline of Barangay Lamao. The rescued individuals were then brought to the Barangay Lamao Rural Health Unit (RHU) for medical evaluation, where they were found to be in good physical condition. They were temporarily accommodated at CGSS Limay while awaiting their relatives.

The successful operation underscores the PCG’s steadfast commitment to the iCare Program, which promotes maritime safety through rapid response, effective inter-agency coordination, and strong community partnership.

This rescue effort is in line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., reaffirming the government’s dedication to protecting lives at sea and advancing the vision of a safer and more resilient maritime nation under Bagong Pilipinas.(DMS)
