ZAMBALES, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued a missing fisherman after five days at sea during a Maritime Patrol and Search and Rescue Operations (SAROPS) conducted in the waters off Bajo de Masinloc, Zambales.
The rescued individual, a 32-year-old fisherman and resident of Wawanway, Subic, Zambales, had been reported missing after his service boat, “Bebelot” under FB Gabriel Geruz 6, failed to return as scheduled. Information regarding his last known position was obtained through coordination with BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408), prompting immediate search efforts.

Upon arrival at the reported location, PCG personnel conducted extensive search operations, eventually locating the missing vessel approximately 78.98 nautical miles west off Capon Grande, Zambales.
At around 4:07 PM, the fisherman was successfully rescued and promptly given medical assistance onboard. His service boat was also secured and brought aboard the responding vessel.
Following the successful rescue, BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) departed the area and is currently en route to Subic, Zambales for the proper turnover of the rescued fisherman to the appropriate authorities.
The PCG reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives at sea through continuous maritime patrol and rapid response operations.
