Botolan, Zambales — Rep. Doris “Nanay Bing” E. Maniquiz, representative of the 2nd District of Zambales, has issued a public apology and announced that she will formally retract a proposed bill she recently filed, acknowledging that its submission was a lapse in judgment.
In a statement released today, Maniquiz expressed her sincere regret and asked for understanding from the public, particularly from those who hold in high regard the legacy of former President Ramon Magsaysay.
“I humbly apologize for the proposed bill that I filed. I will be formally retracting the measure first hour tomorrow morning,” Maniquiz said, emphasizing her accountability and willingness to correct the matter promptly.
The congresswoman underscored her deep respect for the memory and contributions of President Ramon Magsaysay, widely regarded as one of the most beloved leaders in Philippine history. She also conveyed her respect to the Magsaysay family and to public officials connected to the late president’s legacy, including Vic Magsaysay and Antonio Diaz, nephew of the former president.
Maniquiz reiterated that the filing of the measure was not intended to diminish the honor associated with the Magsaysay name and acknowledged the strong sentiments surrounding the issue.
“As public servants, we must always listen to the people and remain mindful of our actions and decisions,” she said. “I take full responsibility and respectfully ask for forgiveness.”
Rep. Maniquiz reaffirmed her commitment to continue serving the people of Zambales with humility, accountability, and respect for the nation’s historical figures and institutions.
