Subic Bay Freeport – The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, economic growth, and community development during the recent “Talakayan sa Freeport” forum held Wednesday at Welt’z Bar Restaurant of Terrace Hotel in Subic Bay Freeport zone.

Addressing members of the media, SBMA Chairman Engr. Eduardo Jose L. Aliño expressed appreciation for the press’s continued dedication to reporting on developments within the Freeport.

Chairman Aliño emphasized the vital role of media partners in promoting transparency and strengthening public service.

He noted that responsible journalism helps bring important issues to light and drives improvements within the agency. “We are grateful for your work in keeping the public informed. Your reports help us improve our services for our stakeholders,” Aliño said.

He assured the media of SBMA’s openness to dialogue and information-sharing, stressing the importance of accurate and verified information in maintaining public trust. “We are not hiding anything. We are doing our best to improve the situation we are facing,” he added, reiterating that official communication channels have been designated to ensure timely and accurate updates.

The Chairman also highlighted significant employment gains within the Freeport. The workforce has grown to approximately 171,000 employees—an increase of around 14,000 jobs since the start of the current administration. “This increase in employment is a substantial achievement, and we continue to work toward attracting more investments that will create additional opportunities,” Aliño said.

In line with its development goals, SBMA is advancing several initiatives aimed at improving quality of life in the Freeport.

These include social housing programs, transportation modernization efforts such as the introduction of electric buses, home development projects, and other community-centered initiatives.

Budget allocations for priority projects are currently being finalized, with several initiatives targeted for completion between late February and mid-March.

Plans are also underway for new recreational facilities, including a mini golf course, along with other developments scheduled before the end of the current term.

SBMA leadership reaffirmed its commitment to responsible governance, transparency, and inclusive growth, calling on stakeholders and media partners to continue supporting Subic’s development. “Together, we will continue working to improve services, create opportunities, and ensure a better quality of life for all,” Chairman Aliño said.
