SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Subic Bay is sailing back into the international cruise spotlight. The luxury liner MS Crystal Symphony arrived early Saturday morning, March 14, bringing 550 tourists and marking the first cruise visit of 2026. The arrival signals renewed momentum for Subic Bay’s growing cruise tourism industry after pandemic-related disruptions.

Greeted by SBMA employees and local students, the passengers disembarked to explore Subic’s historic landmarks, shopping centers, and the nearby Clark Freeport Zone. The ship, owned by luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent and operated by Crystal Cruises, underscores Subic’s appeal to high-end international travelers.

SBMA Tourism Department Manager Mary Jamelle Camba revealed that Subic Bay is set to host at least eight international cruise ships this year. “Each arrival adds another layer of magic to life in Subic Bay,” she said, highlighting the sector’s expected boost to the local economy.

Major upcoming visits include the Spirit-class Adora Mediterranea on March 26, carrying 3,592 passengers and crew; MS Amadea on March 30 with 916 visitors; and MV Piano Land, docking on April 6 and 16 with 2,722 passengers and crew combined. The Italian cruise ship Costa Serena is scheduled for an October 25 arrival. Subic’s cruise tourism program, launched in 2018, welcomed 37 cruise liners and over 49,000 passengers before the pandemic, generating an estimated ₱173 million for the Central Luzon region.
