The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla Jr. commended the First District of Zambales for its sustained implementation of public-centered programs and projects that directly benefit local communities.
During a meeting with Deputy Speaker and Zambales First District Representative Jay Khonghun, Jonathan Khonghun of Subic, Jeffrey Khonghun of Castillejos, and Zambales Vice Governor Jacqueline Rose Khonghun, Secretary Remulla recognized the Khonghun family’s strong and commendable track record in public service.
The DILG chief announced that the department will allocate additional mobile patrol units to the district’s police force to further strengthen peace and order initiatives. He emphasized that the discipline and sound governance demonstrated by local officials merit increased national government support to enhance public safety and community security.
The meeting also covered the provision of additional firefighting equipment for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and discussed measures to address facility shortages of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Secretary Remulla likewise expressed full support for Representative Khonghun’s proposal to construct a new BJMP building and a covered court at Camp Cabal in Barangay Barretto—initiatives expected to improve facilities and services for both personnel and residents.
Meanwhile, Secretary Remulla is scheduled to visit Zambales in March to personally reaffirm and strengthen the DILG’s continuing support for the province’s development and public safety programs.
