SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – Collaboration took center stage as 222 volunteers from government, private sector, and civic groups united for the latest Friday Clean-Up Drive in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, demonstrating the power of partnership in advancing environmental sustainability.
Led by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Operations Group, the initiative brought together employees, port operators, and community volunteers to rehabilitate key areas including Waterfront Road, the Mini Golf Course, and the Boardwalk Area. Participants worked collectively to collect and properly segregate waste, underscoring the importance of discipline and shared responsibility in maintaining public spaces.
Port Facility Partners such as Subic Bay International Terminals Corp., Pure Petroleum Corporation, Mega Subic Terminal, Inc., Harbor Centre Port Terminal, Inc., and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 111 played a key role in mobilizing support, reflecting strong corporate social responsibility within the Freeport community.

Anchored on the theme “Tapat Ko, Linis Ko, Pagandahin Ko,” the clean-up drive promoted a culture of ownership and proactive environmental stewardship among stakeholders.
Beyond the clean-up, the SBMA Ecology Center expanded the day’s impact through its “Friday Clean-up Club” at Grande Island, reinforcing coastal conservation efforts. A capacity-building session was also conducted for staff and On-the-Job Trainees (OJTs), featuring a technical discussion on coastal and marine ecosystem management, followed by a guided forest trekking activity to deepen participants’ appreciation of local biodiversity.
Organizers emphasized that sustaining the Freeport’s status as a clean, safe, and globally competitive destination requires consistent action and strong collaboration. The growing participation in the monthly drive signals a unified commitment to protecting the environment while fostering a culture of shared accountability across the Subic Bay community.
