MORONG, Bataan — Authorities in Morong have placed all coastal areas under a Double Red Flag Alert Status effective 6:00 a.m. on June 8, 2026, as hazardous sea conditions brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, continue to threaten public safety.
The alert was issued in response to the prevailing Gale Warning and Storm Surge Warning, which indicate dangerous conditions along the municipality’s shoreline and coastal waters.
According to local authorities, moderate to strong waves, rough sea conditions, and the possibility of storm surges or sudden rises in sea level are expected to affect coastal communities and beach areas in Morong.
As a precautionary measure, all swimming, bathing, and recreational water activities have been strictly prohibited. The ban covers water sports such as jet skiing, banana boat rides, and other sea-based recreational activities until conditions improve and authorities lift the restrictions.
Officials stressed that the Double Red Flag Alert is intended to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of residents and visitors amid the heightened risks posed by the rough seas.
Authorities also warned that individuals who disregard the directive may face appropriate penalties under existing laws and municipal ordinances.
Residents, tourists, resort operators, and coastal business establishments have been urged to cooperate with local authorities and strictly observe all safety protocols. Officials likewise encouraged the public to share the advisory to help raise awareness and prevent incidents along the coastline.
Local disaster response teams continue to monitor weather and sea conditions and are prepared to implement additional safety measures should the situation worsen. (Municipality of Morong, Bataan)
