Iba, Zambales— In line with its mandate to protect consumers and ensure fair market practices, the Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales conducted price and supply monitoring of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPC) in Iba on March 5, 2026, and in Olongapo City on March 9, 2026.

Results of the monitoring activities conducted from the third quarter of 2025 through the first quarter of 2026 indicate that there has been no significant price increase in basic necessities and prime commodities in the Province of Zambales. All monitored groceries and supermarkets were found to be compliant with the Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs) set by the government.

In terms of supply, supermarket and grocery owners reported that their current inventory levels are sufficient to last for at least one month, demonstrating strong preparedness and stable supply chains within the province.

Despite concerns over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the potential supply shortages of crude oil and gasoline, there have been no reported disruptions in the delivery of basic goods from Metro Manila and nearby provinces to markets in Olongapo City and Zambales. Market conditions remain normal and stable, with no incidents of hoarding or panic buying observed.

The DTI Zambales will continue its regular monitoring, validation of product availability, and timely reporting to ensure accurate market information, maintain fair pricing practices, and uphold consumer protection across the province.

For concerns related to prices and supply of basic goods, consumers are encouraged to report to the nearest DTI office.
