The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region III, through its Free Public Internet Access Program (FPIAP), has successfully completed the installation and activation of free Wi-Fi sites in Barangay Nacolcol, Botolan, and Barangay Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales.
These newly operational sites are expected to significantly enhance connectivity within the communities, providing residents—including students, educators, healthcare workers, and local government personnel—with reliable and accessible internet access. With this initiative, community members can now take advantage of online educational tools, digital government services, livelihood platforms, and real-time communication channels, especially during emergencies.

The deployment process involved thorough site inspections, installation and mounting of equipment, configuration of network systems, and comprehensive testing to ensure stable and efficient internet connectivity for public use. The successful rollout was made possible through close coordination with local government units and barangay officials, whose support played a vital role in the project’s implementation.
As DICT continues to expand the Free Public Internet Access Program, it reaffirms its commitment to narrowing the digital divide, fostering digital inclusion, and empowering communities—particularly those in geographically isolated and underserved areas.
Through initiatives like this, DICT moves forward in building a more connected, inclusive, and digitally empowered Philippines. (DICT Region 3)
