Subic, Zambales – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully assisted a distressed fishing vessel off the waters of Los Frailes Island in Subic, Zambales on March 26, 2026.
BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) responded after receiving a report at around 10:59 AM from Coast Guard District National Capital Region – Central Luzon a stranded fishing banca identified as FB Gavin. The PCG vessel immediately proceeded to the area to conduct a towing operation.

The fishing banca, carrying six crew members, was safely towed to Subic. All crew members were reported to be in good physical condition and did not require medical attention.
The following morning, at approximately 6:20 AM on March 27, 2026, FB Gavin was formally turned over to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Coast Guard Sub-Station Zambales for further support and assessment.
The PCG reiterated its commitment to maritime safety, emphasizing its readiness to respond to emergencies and safeguard lives at sea.
