ZAMBALES — A total of 66 marine turtle hatchlings were released into the sea in Zambales through a joint effort of government workers, resort owners, and local community members, highlighting growing collaboration in marine conservation.

The activity, held at Funtasea Beach, brought together stakeholders committed to protecting coastal ecosystems and raising public awareness on the importance of safeguarding marine wildlife.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the initiative demonstrates how collective action can contribute to the protection of endangered species.

He stressed that partnerships among communities, local governments, and environmental agencies play a crucial role in ensuring the survival of marine turtles and the preservation of biodiversity.

The hatchlings were carefully released with the participation of guests and conservation partners, marking a shared effort to support the species’ return to their natural habitat.

DENR Zambales Provincial Head Marife Castillo also underscored the importance of community involvement, noting that protecting marine life directly supports local livelihoods and the sustainability of tourism in the area.

The DENR continues to call on the public to take part in conservation efforts by helping protect nesting sites, minimizing disturbances to wildlife, and reporting any stranded or endangered marine species to authorities. (DENR Central Luzon)
