CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Demonstrating the impact of collective environmental action, more than 170 young state workers from government agencies across Central Luzon joined forces with private sector partners to collect over 350 kilograms of non-biodegradable waste during the “KapaligiRUN” plogging drive.
Organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon as part of the Earth Month celebration, the activity aligned with this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlighting the role of individuals and communities in addressing pollution and protecting natural resources.

KapaligiRUN combined jogging with litter collection, turning a routine fitness activity into a meaningful environmental initiative. Participants gathered waste along designated routes, contributing directly to cleaner public spaces while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the initiative reflects the growing involvement of young public servants in environmental programs.
“Through activities like this, we see how the youth can lead by example in caring for the environment. Their participation helps raise awareness and encourages more communities to take part in sustainable practices,” Pablo said.
Participants who demonstrated outstanding performance during the event were recognized and awarded.
Now on its fourth year, the KapaligiRUN plogging drive continues to serve as a platform for engaging communities and strengthening partnerships in environmental protection efforts across the region.
The DENR Central Luzon reaffirmed its commitment to expanding similar initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and community participation toward building a cleaner and more resilient future.
