Subic Bay Freeport Zone — The Central Luzon Media Association (CLMA) Region III convened its First Directorate Meeting for 2026 on April 23–24 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, gathering media leaders and practitioners from across Central Luzon while laying the groundwork for a major journalism training program for government communicators.
Presided over by Regional President Deng Pangilinan, the two-day meeting was conducted in partnership with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), represented by Deputy Admintrator for Corporate Communications Ms. Armina Belleza C. Llamas. The SBMA continues to play a key role as a partner of CLMA in Olongapo City and the broader region.
Hosting duties were led by the CLMA Olongapo–Zambales Chapter under Chapter President Dante Salvaña, whose officers and members ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

Beyond internal planning and coordination, the directorate meeting also served as a strategic platform to finalize preparations for a large-scale journalism seminar aimed at Public Information Officers (PIOs) across Zambales. The training, scheduled for September, will target communicators from the province’s 13 municipalities and the lone chartered city of Olongapo, with an estimated 100 participants expected to attend.
The seminar will be led by seasoned CLMA media practitioners, focusing on news writing, media ethics, and digital broadcasting, with the goal of enhancing the communication capabilities of local government information officers. Organizers described the Zambales leg as a pilot initiative that may be expanded to other provinces, including Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Pampanga, as part of a broader effort to standardize public information practices across Central Luzon.
During the opening session, Llamas conveyed the support of SBMA leadership, including Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño, in advancing professional development initiatives for both media and government communicators. She welcomed CLMA directors and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening communication standards in the region.
Pangilinan, in turn, expressed appreciation for SBMA’s continued logistical and institutional support, emphasizing that collaboration between the media and government agencies is essential in elevating the professionalism of public information officers.
The meeting was attended by CLMA officers and members from across Central Luzon, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to unity, collaboration, and the advancement of journalism standards in the region.
