Sangley Point, Cavite City — The Philippine Fleet (PF) formally ushered in the year 2026 with its traditional New Year’s Call to the Fleet Commander, Rear Admiral Joe Anthony C Orbe PN, held at Magluyan Hall in Naval Base Heracleo Alano here on Friday, January 23.
The annual gathering brought together Fleet sub-unit commanders and their deputies, commanding officers of floating assets from Naval Operating Base–Subic and Sangley Point, Fleet staff officers, senior enlisted leaders, and civilian human resources personnel, along with their spouses. The occasion served as a venue to reflect on the Fleet’s accomplishments over the past year, align on strategic priorities, and reaffirm a collective commitment to professionalism, excellence, and operational readiness.
A key highlight of the program was the presentation of the Fleet’s “Way Ahead,” which outlined priority initiatives and focus areas aimed at sustaining mission success and enhancing operational effectiveness in the year ahead.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Orbe underscored the core values that guide the Philippine Fleet’s daily undertakings, urging all personnel to let these principles serve as their moral compass. He reiterated the enduring mantra, “mission first, family always, and God above all,” emphasizing that while service to the nation remains paramount, the strength and resilience of Fleet personnel are anchored on family support and steadfast faith in the Almighty. He further challenged the Fleet to remain “networked, innovative, and competent,” highlighting the critical importance of effective communication, adaptive thinking, and professional excellence in accomplishing its mandate.

The Fleet Commander also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the spouses who attended the activity, recognizing their vital role in sustaining morale and performance within the organization. “We give premium to families, because how your family is determines how effective you are in performing your job in the Fleet,” he said.
As the new year begins, the Philippine Fleet renewed its unwavering commitment as the Vanguard of Our Seas, resolute in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests, strengthening operational readiness, and advancing capabilities to address present and emerging challenges. United in purpose, the officers and personnel of the Fleet remain steadfast in defending the country’s maritime domain, upholding the highest standards of professionalism, and supporting the Philippine Navy’s thrust to remain a modern, multi- domain, self-reliant, and credible partner amid an evolving security environment.
