CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) recorded a significant decline in focus crime incidents across Central Luzon despite the rotational power interruptions experienced in several areas beginning May 11, 2026.
Based on PRO3 data, focus crime incidents dropped by 39.06 percent, from 64 cases recorded between May 4 to 10, 2026, to only 39 incidents from May 11 to 17, reflecting a decrease of 25 cases.
Authorities attributed the decline to intensified police visibility and sustained anti-criminality operations implemented throughout the region, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours when brownouts were most prevalent.
To strengthen public safety measures, police units increased the deployment of bike patrols, mobile patrols, foot patrols, and checkpoint operations in strategic areas, including business districts, residential communities, major thoroughfares, and identified crime-prone areas affected by low visibility during power outages.
Police Brig. General Jess B. Mendez, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 3, said proactive police adjustments and heightened visibility played a major role in maintaining peace and order across the region.
“We anticipated the possible security concerns brought about by the rotational brownouts, which is why our police units immediately intensified visibility patrols and checkpoint operations, particularly during the wee hours of the night. The reduction in focus crime incidents shows that strong police presence, quick response, and community cooperation continue to make a significant impact in keeping our communities safe,” Mendez said.
He added that the accomplishment reflects the continuing implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda on enhanced police operations, crime prevention efforts, and the Safer Cities Program, which promotes stronger police visibility and proactive public safety measures.
PRO3 assured the public that intensified patrol operations, intelligence monitoring, and preventive policing efforts will remain in place to ensure the continued safety and security of communities throughout Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
