SUBIC, Zambales — Ten barangays in Subic received brand-new garbage trucks through the joint initiative of Zambales First District Representative Congressman Jefferson “Jay” Khonghun and Mayor Jonathan “Jon” Khonghun aimed at strengthening waste management and maintaining cleanliness in local communities.

The formal turnover ceremony was led by Cong. Jay Khonghun and Mayor Jon Khonghun on Saturday, May 16, 2026 where the new garbage trucks were officially handed over to beneficiary barangays for use in faster and more efficient waste collection operations.

The barangays that received the new units were Aningway Sacatihan, Asinan Poblacion, Asinan Proper, Calapacuan, Cawag, Ilwas, Mangan-Vaca, Matain, Naugsol, and Pamatawan.

The distribution forms part of the local government’s continuing environmental sanitation and solid waste management program designed to improve public health, cleanliness, and orderliness across Subic.

This marks the second batch of barangays to receive garbage trucks under the program. Earlier beneficiaries included the barangays of Calapandayan, Wawandue, Sto. Tomas, San Isidro, Baraca-Camachile, and Batiawan.

According to Cong. Jay Khonghun, the initiative aims to help barangays maintain cleaner and healthier communities through improved waste collection services.

Local officials also encouraged barangay leaders and personnel to properly maintain and responsibly use the new vehicles to ensure long-term service for residents.
