CLARK, Pampanga — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, officially broke ground for the expansion of its Clark gateway facility, signaling a major investment aimed at strengthening the Philippines’ role as a strategic logistics and trans-shipment hub in the Asia Pacific region.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key government and industry leaders, including Frederick Go, Cristina Roque, Joshua Bingcang, Noel F. Manankil, Agnes Devanadera, and Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio.
The project involves the modernization and expansion of the FedEx Clark gateway facility to more than 78,000 square meters, equipped with upgraded handling and operational systems designed to improve shipment flow reliability and service flexibility for customers.
FedEx said the expanded gateway will enhance its capacity to support express delivery, freight, and rapidly growing e-commerce shipments, while strengthening network resilience amid increasing cross-border trade across Asia Pacific.
According to Masamichi Ujiie, the expansion demonstrates FedEx’s long-term commitment to the Philippines and its efforts to build a smarter and more reliable logistics network in the region.
He noted that enhancing operational capabilities in Clark would allow the company to better support Philippine businesses, improve global connectivity, and facilitate more efficient international trade.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go emphasized that the investment will strengthen the country’s trade capabilities by enabling Filipino businesses and consumers to access more international markets, while attracting more foreign trade opportunities into the Philippines.
The development follows the opening of the FedEx Clark gateway in October 2021 and the signing of a land lease agreement with Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) in July 2024.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with Robinsons Land Corporation serving as the project developer.
FedEx said the facility design incorporates sustainability and energy-efficient features, including insulated building materials, LED lighting, skylights, electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater collection systems, water-saving fixtures, and provisions for future solar power integration.
The expansion forms part of FedEx’s broader strategy to improve service reliability, strengthen customer experience, and support long-term growth opportunities across the Asia Pacific region.
