CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A joint police operation in Porac, Pampanga on May 20, 2026 resulted in the arrest of a Most Wanted Person facing a murder case and the confiscation of several loose firearms and ammunition, authorities said.

Operatives from the Pampanga Police Intelligence Unit, together with personnel from Porac Municipal Police Station, Guagua Municipal Police Station, Pampanga 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Pampanga Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, served a warrant of arrest against a 37-year-old suspect in Barangay Pias, Porac. A 70-year-old cohort was also apprehended during the operation.

During the implementation of the warrant, authorities recovered several firearms and ammunition allegedly possessed by the suspects, including a caliber .45 pistol, an M16 rifle, a shotgun with a defaced serial number, magazines, and assorted live ammunition.

Police said additional charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as Presidential Decree 1829, are being prepared against the arrested suspect.

Police Brig. General Jess B. Mendez, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 3, said the successful operation underscores the continuing campaign against loose firearms and wanted persons under the Philippine National Police Focused Agenda.

“Loose firearms continue to pose a serious threat to public safety because these are often used in the commission of crimes. Operations like this are important not only in arresting wanted persons, but also in preventing violence and protecting communities from armed individuals,” Mendez said.

He added that PRO3 will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations against illegal firearms and criminality to ensure safer communities across Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
