CASIGURAN, Aurora – The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) is pursuing four major infrastructure projects aimed at attracting more investments and accelerating economic development in the Aurora Special Economic Zone.
During a media briefing on Thursday, APECO President and Chief Executive Officer Lawyer Gil Taway IV said the proposed projects include the Casiguran International New Port, Casiguran International Airport, a high-speed road network, and a railway system that would connect the eastern and western economic zones of Central Luzon.
Taway said APECO officials are set to meet with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center to formally submit proposals for the feasibility studies of the projects as part of efforts to secure support and attract private sector investments.
He added that APECO has already received a letter of support from the Department of Finance for the proposed Casiguran International New Port, which is expected to strengthen investor confidence.
The proposed international port will rise on a 500-hectare site within the APECO Freeport in Casiguran and will form part of a planned integrated industrial estate and port complex.
Taway expressed optimism that the government’s support and partnerships with private investors will help fast-track the realization of the infrastructure projects, positioning APECO as a key investment and logistics hub in Northern and Central Luzon. (Jason de Asis)
