ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Balibago Waterworks and its partner volunteer groups continue to strengthen their commitment to environmental conservation through a sustained cleanup campaign along the Abacan River, reinforcing collective efforts to restore and protect one of Angeles City’s vital waterways.
Held every third and fourth Saturday of the month, the cleanup initiative brings together volunteers from various sectors to remove solid waste from the river and promote responsible environmental stewardship among surrounding communities.
During the latest cleanup activity on July 25, 2026, at least 120 volunteers participated in the effort in Barangay Anunas. The volunteers came from Soliman Elementary School, Philippine College of Criminology, the Barangay Anunas Local Government Unit, Balibago Waterworks’ Capas and Victoria branches, and ARAW-ACI.

The regular cleanup aims to reduce pollution in the Abacan River, improve water quality, and help preserve the river’s ecological health. It also seeks to encourage greater public awareness of the importance of proper waste management and the shared responsibility of protecting natural resources.
By engaging schools, local government units, private organizations, and community volunteers, the initiative demonstrates how collaborative environmental action can contribute to cleaner waterways and healthier communities. Participants not only collect waste but also help inspire a culture of environmental responsibility and volunteerism.
Balibago Waterworks reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programs that promote watershed protection and environmental sustainability. The company likewise encouraged more individuals and organizations to take part in future cleanup activities, emphasizing that protecting the Abacan River requires sustained cooperation from all sectors.
Through continued community participation and regular cleanup efforts, the initiative aims to ensure that the Abacan River remains a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient ecosystem for present and future generations.
