SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) posted an 8% increase in consolidated gross revenue from its Port Operations Group, reaching P874 million in the first half of 2026, up from P806 million during the same period last year.

The growth was driven mainly by stronger earnings from the Seaport Department and the Trade Facilitation and Compliance Department (TFCD) despite continuing global economic challenges.

SBMA Deputy Administrator III for Operations Group Ronnie Yambao said the agency managed to sustain growth while providing support to stakeholders affected by external disruptions.

According to Yambao, SBMA implemented approximately P81 million in discounts in line with Executive Order No. 110, aimed at mitigating the impact of the fuel supply crisis linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

The SBMA reported an increase in consolidated gross revenue by 8% in Port Operations, reaching Php 874 million in the first half of 2026, compared to Php 806 million in the same period last year.

The Seaport Department remained the biggest contributor, generating P683 million, or 78% of total revenue, representing a 10% year-on-year increase. The growth was supported by an 18% rise in non-containerized cargo, including a 24% increase in bulk and break-bulk shipments.

Meanwhile, the Trade Facilitation and Compliance Department recorded a 17% increase in revenue, partly attributed to the implementation of the Registration Certificate Policy.

Rice imports also surged by 88%, contributing to the increase in non-containerized cargo as the government strengthened rice stocks ahead of the anticipated El Niño phenomenon.

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose Aliño said the results demonstrate the agency’s resilience and adaptability amid global uncertainties.

“Our first-half results underscore the strength and flexibility of the Port Operations Group,” Aliño said, adding that SBMA remains committed to sustaining growth while helping mitigate external disruptions.

The SBMA continues to strengthen the Subic Bay Freeport’s role as a major logistics and supply chain hub, supporting the country’s economic stability and growth.
