FREEPORT AREA OF BATAAN — The Administration Building of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) turned blue at 6 p.m. on September 25 in support of the global “Light the World in Blue” campaign marking World Maritime Day 2026 and highlighting the vital role of the maritime industry in global trade and development.
The blue illumination served as AFAB’s participation in the annual observance, which promotes awareness of the importance of safe, secure, environmentally sound and efficient shipping.
As the government authority mandated to manage and develop the Freeport Area of Bataan and its expansion areas, AFAB recognizes maritime connectivity and port operations as important components in supporting trade and investment in the Freeport Area of Bataan.
The observance also coincides with the Philippines’ Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo), held every September to promote public awareness of the country’s maritime sector and its contribution to national development.
Through the initiative, AFAB joins maritime communities worldwide in recognizing the role of shipping in connecting economies, facilitating trade and supporting sustainable development.
