BALANGA CITY, BATAAN — AboitizPower is strengthening Bataan’s shift toward sustainable transportation after turning over P18 million worth of electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure to the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) on Sept. 30.

The turnover ceremony was held at Vista Mall Balanga, with AboitizPower’s private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) providing the electric mobility assets to support the province’s sustainable transportation initiatives.

The donation forms part of the PGB’s Electric Mobility for Sustainability Program under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) Project Transform, which seeks to promote sustainable and low-carbon solutions while modernizing public service delivery.

The donated fleet will support Bataan’s Libreng Sakay program, providing residents with more accessible and environmentally sustainable public transportation.

The package includes two Foton 8-meter electric buses, one Wuling Sunlight 14-seater passenger van, one VinFast Limo Green 7-seater MPV, and an 80-kilowatt fast-charging facility located at Vista Mall Balanga.

AboitizPower Transition Business Group President and COO Celso Caballero said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to partnerships that generate long-term benefits for communities.

“The strongest partnerships are built not by a single project but by a shared commitment to creating opportunities for people,” Caballero said.

“With sincere gratitude, we are proud to be the trusted partner of the Province of Bataan. We are proud to stand alongside the Provincial Government of Bataan in advancing initiatives with lasting value for communities,” he added.

Bataan Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia formally accepted the donation on behalf of the provincial government and thanked AboitizPower for its continued support of the province’s programs.

“Salamat po sa AboitizPower, sa inyong pagsuporta sa mga programa namin dito sa lalawigan ng Bataan. Hindi po namin magagawa ito kung hindi po dahil sa mga partners na katulad ninyo. We’re looking forward to more projects like this,” Garcia said.

He noted that the province is working with AboitizPower as a partner in implementing Project Transform, which includes several components, including electric mobility.

“Kayo po ay kapirmahan namin sa Project Transform ng DENR, and there are many components of this project, kasama po ang Electric Mobility,” Garcia said.

He added that the provincial government looks forward to pursuing more projects with AboitizPower that can benefit communities across Bataan.

Following the messages from the two leaders, a local parish priest officiated the ceremonial blessing of the four newly turned-over electric vehicles, formally dedicating the fleet for public service.

For GMEC and GNPD, the initiative supports their environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives while contributing to Bataan’s sustainable mobility agenda and the broader transition toward cleaner transportation.

The turnover also highlights the role of public-private partnerships in providing communities with practical solutions that promote environmental sustainability while improving public services.
