SUBIC, ZAMBALES — Residents of four island communities in Barangay Cawag received food packs, school supplies and essential materials on October 1 as government personnel brought assistance directly to the geographically isolated communities.
The assistance reached residents of Sitio Sampaloc, Parola, Nagbayukan and Kinabuksan, with DSWD food packs distributed along with supplies requested by residents, including water hoses, jetmatic pumps, cement, steel bars and other essential materials.
School bags were also distributed to students from the island communities to help support their educational needs.
The distribution was led by Chief of Staff Janjo Khonghun, together with personnel from the offices of Congressman Jay Khonghun and Mayor Jon Khonghun, as well as representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“We remain committed to bringing assistance directly to our island communities. Despite the distance, rain and challenges of traveling by sea, we will continue to reach our residents and respond to their needs. This assistance is our way of making sure that no community is left behind,” Khonghun said.
The team proceeded with the distribution despite rain and challenging sea conditions to ensure that the assistance reached the intended beneficiaries.
The activity forms part of continuing efforts to extend government assistance to residents of island communities and address their basic needs despite the challenges of reaching them by sea.
