MARIVELES, BATAAN — The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) Sports League 2026 has expanded its lineup of sporting activities with its first-ever pickleball special tournament, providing workers with more opportunities to participate in recreational sports and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Held on October 16, the tournament introduced pickleball as a new competition in the league, bringing together employees from companies operating in FAB for friendly competition and community engagement.
The Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital team of Egard Simeon Jr. and Teejay Virtudazo clinched first place.
District Four’s Cliff Russel Orbeta and Ronnie Panotes secured second place, while Mitsumi Philippines Inc.’s John Paul Zapata and John Gabriel Cereño finished third.
The addition of pickleball reflects the growing popularity of the sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. Its accessibility to players of different ages and fitness levels makes it a suitable activity for encouraging broader participation in workplace sports.

The tournament also reinforces the FAB Sports League’s role in fostering camaraderie among employees from different companies while promoting physical activity beyond the workplace.
In his message, Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Hussein Pangandaman expressed appreciation to the participating companies for their support and involvement in the league.
The FAB Sports League 2026 continues to provide a platform for workers to build connections, develop sportsmanship and strengthen community ties through organized athletic activities.
With pickleball now part of the competition, the league expands its offerings and creates additional opportunities for the FAB workforce to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle.
