In an effort to raise environmental awareness on the protection and preservation of forests, officials and personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) joined the Forest Management Bureau’s (FMB) week-long tree-hugging campaign in Central Luzon, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and human well-being.
Leading the activity were Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo, Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Gerundio Fernandez, and Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Ricky Hernandez. The officials personally participated in hugging various tree species, particularly those known for their healing and medicinal properties and benefits.

The campaign aims to foster a deeper connection between people and nature while emphasizing the social, emotional, and health benefits derived from caring for trees and forest ecosystems. Through this symbolic yet meaningful activity, the DENR and FMB seek to inspire greater appreciation and responsibility toward forest conservation.
In line with the celebration of Valentine’s Day, the DENR encourages the public to embrace trees as a creative and eco-friendly expression of love—highlighting not only affection for one another, but also for the forests that sustain life and future generations.
The initiative underscores DENR’s continuing efforts to promote environmental consciousness and nurture resilient, healthy forest landscapes across Central Luzon.
