Palauig, Zambales – In observance of Araw ng Kagitingan, the 69th Infantry (COUGAR) Battalion actively participated in Lakad Kalayaan 2026 on April 9, 2026, held at Brgy. San Juan, Castillejos, Zambales.
The activity brought together military personnel, local government units, and partner agencies in a unified display of patriotism and remembrance. Representing the battalion were 2LT Rizza Mae Lamoste (AGS) PA, Gender and Development (GAD) Officer, along with two squads from Bravo Company under the leadership of 2LT John Lloyd Bacquial (CE) PA, Platoon Leader.

The event was organized in close coordination with the Sangguniang Barangay of Castillejos and supported by various partner agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), and the 306th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion. It was spearheaded by LTC Wilma D. Billman PA (RES), Battalion Commander, together with COL Vergel M. Laguitan SC (GSC) PA, Director of the 306th Community Defense Center, RCDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army.
Lakad Kalayaan 2026 highlighted the importance of honoring the valor and sacrifice of Filipino heroes, reinforcing the spirit of unity and national pride among participants.
As the nation commemorates Araw ng Kagitingan, the 69IB reaffirms its commitment to preserving the legacy of heroism and inspiring future generations to uphold the values of courage and patriotism.
