Tarlac City — In celebration of its 28th Cityhood Anniversary, Tarlac City unveiled the heritage exhibit “Kabesera: Punong Lungsod; Sentro ng Lalawigan” at the Bulwagan of City Hall, highlighting the city’s historical and cultural significance as the provincial capital.

With the theme “Balik-tanaw sa nakaraan para sa maunlad at masayang kinabukasan” (Reflecting on the past for a progressive and joyful future), the exhibit presents a curated look into the city’s evolution, underscoring its role as the administrative and cultural center of Tarlac.

The opening ceremony was attended by local government officials, cultural stakeholders, and representatives from the Department of Tourism – Region III, led by Regional Director Dr. Richard G. Daenos and Chief Tourism Operations Officer Ronsan Pelariza. Their presence reaffirmed the agency’s support for programs that promote cultural heritage and boost regional tourism.

The exhibit was formally opened through a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, followed by a lecture led by noted Tarlaqueño historians Dr. Lino Dizon and Dr. Xiao Chua, who provided deeper context on the city’s historical roots and identity.

Mayor Susan A. Yap said the initiative reflects the city government’s ongoing commitment to preserving its heritage while strengthening civic pride among its people.

Open to the public, the “Kabesera” exhibit invites residents, students, institutions, and visitors to rediscover Tarlac City’s story and appreciate the role of heritage in shaping resilient and forward-looking communities.
