MANILA — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) hailed Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc. (YTPI) for its three decades of contribution to employment generation, skills development, and economic growth in the country.
“What Yokohama has given us is not just jobs, but dignity, skills, and pride in our people,” said CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera during the celebration of YTPI’s 30th Anniversary on April 16, attended by government officials, industry leaders, and Japanese partners.
Devanadera highlighted Yokohama’s significant role in strengthening Pampanga’s industrial landscape, noting its long-standing commitment to workforce development and global competitiveness.
“Yokohama’s story is one of patience, resilience, and pride. From its beginnings in Pampanga, it has trained Filipino workers, brought them to Japan, and produced world-class tires with Filipino hands,” she said.
She further recognized the company’s contribution to local employment and exports, describing YTPI as one of the leading investors in Clark.
“Yokohama is now the second-largest exporter and employer in Clark, Pampanga, uplifting communities and helping reduce poverty,” she added.
Looking forward, Devanadera expressed hope for continued partnership and growth.

“For 30 years, Yokohama has been with us. We wish for 30 more, and many more beyond that,” she said.
The CDC delegation included Atty. Gloria Victoria Taruc, Vice President for Legal Affairs; PMGen. Lina Sarmiento (Ret.), Vice President for Security Services; Jose Miguel de la Rosa, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Astrud Aguinaldo, Manager of the Communications Division.
The anniversary program featured keynote addresses, cultural performances, a symbolic donation ceremony, and recognition of employees who have served YTPI for 30 years.
YTPI President and CEO Atsushi Funayama opened the event with welcome remarks. Department of Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go and Minister Yokota Naobumi of the Embassy of Japan also delivered messages highlighting Yokohama’s role in supporting economic growth in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, YTPI Executive Vice President Masatsugu Nishimon and Mabalacat City Mayor Atty. Gerald Guttrie Aquino led the symbolic donation ceremony. Shinji Seimiya, President and COO of The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., emphasized the company’s global commitment, while YTPI Executive Vice President Takumi Hatakeyama closed the program with remarks reaffirming its continued partnership with the Philippines.
