City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources and ASEZ have formalized a partnership aimed at strengthening youth-led environmental action and ecosystem restoration initiatives in Central Luzon.
The collaboration was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines joint efforts in restoration activities, volunteer mobilization, environmental campaigns, and data-sharing initiatives involving university students, local communities, and partner organizations.
The partnership is part of the DENR’s continuing efforts to encourage greater participation from the youth sector in environmental protection and sustainable development programs.

Under the agreement, both parties will identify priority areas for restoration projects and support ASEZ’s Earth Recovery Project through coordinated environmental activities and stakeholder engagement across the region.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the initiative highlights the important role of young people in advancing environmental stewardship and community resilience.
“By partnering with ASEZ, we are giving young people more opportunities to take part in meaningful environmental action. Their energy, leadership, and commitment can help strengthen our collective efforts to protect and restore our natural resources,” Pablo said.
ASEZ, composed of university student volunteers from different countries, works on environmental protection programs focused on climate action, clean-up drives, tree planting, and sustainability awareness campaigns.
Through the partnership, DENR and ASEZ aim to expand youth environmental networks and encourage more students to become active contributors in building cleaner, greener, and more resilient communities in Central Luzon.
