Sta. Cruz, Zambales – Residents of Zambales are expected to receive improved access to healthcare services and essential medicines following the official launch of the YAKAP and GAMOT programs at Ospital ng Sta. Cruz on May 18, 2026.

The initiative was spearheaded by PhilHealth Region III in partnership with local health officials and stakeholders to strengthen primary healthcare services for ZambaleƱos.

Leading the launch were Ma. Emily Roque, Provincial Health Officer Noel Bueno, PhilHealth Iba Head Chona Visca, along with officials from LNL Archipelago Minerals Incorporation and Ospital ng Sta. Cruz.

The YAKAP and GAMOT programs aim to provide comprehensive healthcare benefits to employed individuals, self-paying members, indigents, senior citizens, families, and other PhilHealth members in the province.

PhilHealth also recognized Ospital ng Sta. Cruz and Dr. Bueno as the first hospital and pharmacy accredited to implement the YAKAP and GAMOT programs in the areas of Zambales covered by PhilHealth Iba.

Dr. Bueno said the Provincial Government of Zambales, under Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., fully supports the program to ensure that residents receive accessible medical consultations, diagnostic services, and medicines.

He added that the initiative encourages PhilHealth members to seek medical attention early without worrying about healthcare expenses.

Under the YAKAP package, members and dependents may avail of health screening, consultations, laboratory services, prescriptions, and 21 essential medicines.

The GAMOT package, meanwhile, provides up to P20,000 worth of essential medicines annually from a list of 54 approved medicines for every qualified member.

PhilHealth members may enroll or select their preferred YAKAP clinic through the eGov mobile application, by visiting the PhilHealth Iba office, or through assistance from Ospital ng Sta. Cruz.

Officials said the program forms part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and deliver quality medical services to communities across Zambales.
