Sta. Cruz Mayor Consolacion M. Marty and other local officials also expressed support for the activity, which emphasized the importance of raising public understanding of the West Philippine Sea issue and strengthening the role of coastal communities in safeguarding national sovereignty and marine resources.

During the program, participants joined discussions centered on unity, cooperation, and the shared responsibility of government institutions and citizens in promoting peace, maritime security, and responsible stewardship of the country’s coastal resources.

LTC Mark Anthony B. Ruelos underscored the importance of public participation in protecting the country’s maritime interests and empowering coastal communities through awareness initiatives.

“Protecting our seas is not solely the responsibility of our uniformed personnel. It requires the collective participation of every Filipino, especially our coastal communities, whose role is vital in preserving our sovereignty, marine resources, and national security,” Ruelos said.

Organizers said the activity reflects the continuing collaboration between the military, local government units, and various sectors to enhance patriotic awareness and reinforce public support for initiatives related to maritime security and coastal protection.

The program forms part of ongoing efforts to build stronger, more resilient, and better-informed coastal communities amid evolving concerns in the West Philippine Sea.
