MANILA, Philippines — Leading energy company AboitizPower has been recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) for its outstanding and sustained contribution to education development in Bataan, reaffirming the company’s commitment to empowering Filipino learners and strengthening communities through education.
The recognition was conferred during the DepEd Partners’ Appreciation Program held on May 8, 2026, where education stakeholders and private sector partners were honored for helping advance learning outcomes across the country. This year’s event, themed “Partnerships that Endure. Reforms that Last,” underscored the importance of collaborative nation-building through education.
AboitizPower, through its private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), was cited for implementing impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that have directly benefited students, teachers, and schools in Bataan.
At the heart of these efforts is the Eskwelasugan Program, which recently trained educators from 15 partner schools across the province using the Alpabasa literacy method, a proven approach designed to strengthen early-grade reading and comprehension. By investing in teacher capability-building, the initiative aims to improve foundational literacy among young learners.

Aboitiz Group representatives from AboitizPower Transition Business Group, Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., and City Savings Bank accept their Plaques of Recognition from DepEd.
Beyond classroom instruction, AboitizPower is also helping bridge the digital divide through the AuroraPH initiative, a collaborative effort with Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., Starlink, and Huawei. The project delivered sustainable solar power and high-speed internet connectivity to Biaan Aeta Integrated School, enabling students in remote indigenous communities to access modern learning tools and digital resources.
The company’s commitment also extends to higher education through its support for the “Iskolar ng Bataan” scholarship program in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bataan. GMEC and GNPD have pledged ₱10 million over five years, with the latest ₱2 million turnover benefiting 200 engineering students enrolled in local state universities. Combined with its long-running local scholarship initiatives, AboitizPower has now supported hundreds of aspiring professionals in pursuing their academic goals.

GMEC and GNPD representatives Joseph Paolo Mendoza, RSM Manager, and Abigail Jacinto, CSR Program Supervisor celebrate their recognition for supporting Filipino learners at the DepEd Partners’ Appreciation Program.
“This recognition is a reminder that when government, communities, and private organizations work together, we can truly change the lives of young Filipinos,” said Joseph Paolo Mendoza, GMEC-GNPD Reputation and Stakeholder Management Manager.
As it continues to power homes and industries, AboitizPower is likewise powering futures—proving that meaningful partnerships and long-term investments in education can create lasting change for generations to come.
