Olongapo City — The City Government of Olongapo, under the leadership of Rolen Paulino Jr., underscored its commitment to transparency, accountability, and continued development following confirmation from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) that the city is highly compliant in project monitoring standards.

Mayor Paulino emphasized that the recognition is not an award but a validation of the city’s strict and consistent monitoring of government projects, particularly infrastructure initiatives such as flood control programs. He stressed the importance of transparency in public spending, noting that government funds must always be properly and efficiently utilized for the benefit of the people.

“We believe in being open-minded and transparent in all our projects. It is the people’s money, and it should be used properly,” the mayor said, highlighting the city’s strengthened monitoring systems.

In line with the celebration of Philippine Independence Day, Mayor Paulino called on citizens to uphold patriotism not only during national holidays but in their everyday actions, emphasizing unity, resilience, and love for country.

As June also marks Olongapo City’s 60th Cityhood Anniversary, the local government is preparing a series of festivities aimed at both celebration and community engagement. Among the highlights is an electric light parade scheduled on June 12, followed by a free concert along Magsaysay Drive.

The celebration will feature performances from local and national artists, headlined by the band Six Cycle Mind. The event, open to the public, is expected to draw residents and visitors for an evening of music and celebration dubbed the “Road to Happiness.”

Mayor Paulino expressed optimism for the city’s future, noting that the 60th cityhood milestone is both a celebration of past achievements and a commitment to further progress in the years ahead.

“We will continue to see the improvement of the city in the coming years, and we hope to go even further in the next decades,” he added.

The city government encourages all residents to participate in the Independence Day and cityhood activities as a show of unity and pride for Olongapo City.
