BALER, Aurora — Gov. Isidro “Sid” P. Galban has strongly condemned alleged acts of corruption in the provincial government following the arrest of a Provincial Board Member and his secretary in an entrapment operation conducted by the Baler Municipal Police Station.
In an exclusive statement to News5, Galban said he was informed of the arrest of a provincial board member who was allegedly involved in corruption.
Galban said he would not tolerate such acts in the Provincial Government of Aurora, citing his administration’s campaign against corruption.
The governor also cited PGA Memorandum Circular No. 06-010, Series of 2026, which he said was issued to reinforce his position against the use of the name or position of any provincial government official or employee to solicit money from contractors, suppliers, or fixers handling government transactions.
“I do not choose sides, nor do I favor anyone, whether they belong to my political party or not,” Galban said.
He emphasized that he would not tolerate any act that violates the law and vowed to continue his administration’s efforts to address corruption in the provincial government.
Meanwhile, IPMR Provincial Board Member Randy Ogian Salo and his secretary, Ronalyn Esteban Pasagian, were arrested by Baler police during an entrapment operation on Sept. 18 in connection with a complaint involving an alleged irregularity in payment for transportation services used during the 2025 Indigenous Peoples Day.
Police reported that PHP260,000 was recovered during the operation. Appropriate charges under Republic Act No. 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, are being prepared for filing before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
The allegations against the two remain subject to the appropriate legal proceedings. (Jason de Asis)
