MARIVELES, BATAAN — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) marks its 17th anniversary this October, commemorating the signing of the law that transformed the former Bataan Economic Zone into the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) and established AFAB as its administering authority.

The anniversary marks 17 years of sustained efforts to promote economic development, create opportunities and strengthen the workforce within the Freeport community.

Since its establishment, the Freeport has continued to serve as a hub for businesses and industries while providing livelihood and employment opportunities to workers and families in Bataan and nearby communities.

AFAB said its journey over the past 17 years has been shaped by the collective efforts of its stakeholders, including locators, workers, government partners and the communities surrounding the Freeport.

Through its programs, projects and initiatives, AFAB continues to pursue economic and workforce development while responding to the changing demands of a globalized economy.

The anniversary also highlights the importance of developing a skilled and competitive workforce capable of supporting the evolving needs of industries operating within the Freeport.

AFAB expressed its appreciation to the stakeholders who have contributed to the growth and development of the FAB over the past 17 years.

The agency said it remains committed to building a Freeport that provides opportunities for its people, contributes to the development of Bataan and supports the country’s broader economic goals.

As AFAB celebrates 17 years of public service, it looks forward to sustaining the progress achieved through continued collaboration with its stakeholders and the Freeport community.
