BALER, Aurora — The province of Aurora has recorded a total of 2,172 dengue cases as of Sept. 12, 2026, including 106 new cases reported by various Disease Reporting Units across the province.
In a statement of Wednesday, the latest figure represents a 137 percent increase compared with the 915 cases recorded during the same period in 2025, according to the Aurora Provincial Health Office (PHO), headed by Dr. Myrna Nicer.
Seven dengue-related deaths have also been recorded, with a reported case fatality rate of 2.2 percent.
The patients ranged in age from one month to 104 years old, with a median age of 12 years. Children aged 1 to 10 accounted for 917 cases, or 42 percent of the total, while males comprised 1,094 cases, or 50 percent.
Among Aurora’s municipalities, Maria Aurora recorded the highest number of cases at 463, or 21 percent of the provincial total.
Meanwhile, Dilasag posted the highest attack rate at 23.2 cases per 1,000 population.
The Provincial Government of Aurora, through the PHO, continues to urge residents to observe the 5S strategy against dengue: Search and Destroy mosquito breeding sites; practice Self-Protection Measures; Seek Early Consultation; Support Fogging when recommended by health authorities; and Sustain Hydration.
Residents are encouraged to regularly clean their surroundings and eliminate containers or areas where mosquitoes can breed.
The PHO also reminded the public to seek early medical consultation when dengue symptoms develop and to follow health authorities’ recommendations regarding fogging or spraying in areas affected by dengue outbreaks.
