ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — A coalition of volunteers and partner organizations carried out another round of cleanup operations along the Abacan River in Barangay Pampang on April 18, 2026, reinforcing an ongoing commitment to environmental protection and sustainable action.
The activity forms part of the sustained river rehabilitation program spearheaded by Balibago Waterworks System Inc. (BWSI), which focuses on reducing plastic pollution and improving water quality in one of the city’s key waterways. Volunteers collected various forms of waste, particularly plastics, as part of efforts to restore and maintain the river’s condition.

Joining the initiative were volunteers from Balibago Waterworks, Soliman EC, Nagkakaisang Guardians, KAAPKA, ARAW-ACI, IMA Foundation, Hausland Holdings, Inc., and the Barangay Pampang local government unit. The participating groups reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue regular cleanup drives and environmental activities in the area.
Key community figures were also present during the cleanup, including Nagkakaisang Guardians President Sonny Dobles, former Angeles City Councilor Susan Pineda, and Barangay Pampang Chairman Carlos Dela Cruz, highlighting strong collaboration between civic groups and local leadership.
Organizers emphasized that sustained participation and collective responsibility are essential to achieving long-term improvements in the Abacan River, calling on more stakeholders to support similar environmental initiatives.
