SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Subic, led by District Collector Arnaldo M. Saulong, carried out a facility inspection and operational walkthrough as part of efforts to enhance port efficiency and strengthen coordination with key stakeholders.
The activity was conducted in partnership with the Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation and the Seaport Department of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
The inspection marks one of Saulong’s first initiatives following his assumption to office on March 30, 2026, aimed at evaluating current operations and identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes within the Port of Subic.
During the walkthrough, port officials presented an overview of cargo handling operations, vessel management, and inter-agency coordination mechanisms. The activity provided the BOC chief with valuable insights into day-to-day operations, as well as existing infrastructure and logistics flow within the port.

Saulong underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in maintaining smooth and efficient port operations, emphasizing that continuous engagement is key to delivering better public service and facilitating trade.
He also highlighted the role of on-site assessments in shaping responsive policies, noting that firsthand observation allows for more informed decision-making aligned with the Bureau’s mandate.
The initiative is in line with the BOC’s modernization agenda and its 5-Point Priority Program, particularly in boosting operational efficiency, strengthening stakeholder relations, and streamlining customs procedures.
The Port of Subic, under its current leadership, continues to uphold its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and service excellence.
