SUBIC BAY, Philippines – The Philippines’ premier triathlon weekend returns to Subic Bay this June as the Century Tuna IRONMAN Philippines celebrates its fifth edition alongside the 10th anniversary of the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay.
The milestone event will gather athletes from 46 countries, reinforcing Subic Bay’s reputation as one of Asia’s leading triathlon destinations.
Since its launch in 2022, the Century Tuna IRONMAN Philippines has produced more than 1,000 qualifiers for the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships. This year’s race weekend will feature the full-distance IRONMAN Philippines, IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay, Birch Tree Adult Boost Sunrise Sprint and Super Sprint races, RLC Residences IRONKIDS, and the Underpants Run presented by Sun Life.
Athletes will once again tackle the iconic Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), regarded as one of the most memorable bike courses in Asia.
“This year represents a significant milestone for triathlon in the Philippines,” said Princess Galura, President and General Manager of Sunrise Events Philippines. “Five years of IRONMAN Philippines and ten years of IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay celebrate the athletes, volunteers, partners, and communities who helped build these events into world-class race experiences.”
Carl Smith, Vice President of Operations for IRONMAN Asia, said the milestone reflects the country’s growing stature in the regional triathlon scene, driven by passionate athletes, strong community support, and committed partners.
Meanwhile, Greg Banzon, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Century Pacific Food Inc., noted that what began as a dream among Filipino triathletes has evolved into one of the region’s most successful endurance sports events, attracting competitors from around the world to race in the Philippines.
