CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Four rescued wildlife animals have been returned to the wild after completing rehabilitation and veterinary assessment at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Wildlife Rescue Center (RWRC).

Released at designated sites within the Aurora Memorial National Park were a Philippine Serpent Eagle (Spilornis holospilus), two Philippine Cobras (Naja philippensis) and a Reticulated Python (Malayopython reticulatus).

The animals underwent veterinary care, species-specific feeding and health monitoring to ensure they were physically fit and capable of surviving in their natural habitat.

Artemio Almazan Jr., head of the DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in Nueva Ecija, said the RWRC also implemented biosecurity measures throughout the animals’ rehabilitation.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the successful release reflects the importance of coordination among DENR field offices, communities and other stakeholders in protecting wildlife.

“Every successful wildlife release is a result of coordinated efforts,” Pablo said, urging the public to immediately coordinate with the DENR when encountering injured, displaced or threatened wildlife.

The agency reminded the public not to handle or keep wild animals unnecessarily, stressing that proper rescue, rehabilitation and release procedures are critical to their survival.
